Music composer Gopi Sunder is on a roll. The one common feature about recent box office successes - Mohanlal's Pulimurugan, Prabhu Deva-starrer Devi and Telugu movie Premam - is music composer Gopi Sunder.
The young composer, who has been receiving positive accolades for all his works, says it hasn't been easy for him to cope with the high expectations.
Sunder talks to Onmanorama about dealing with criticisms and working in his own style:
''First, let me tell you that if I take inspiration from other songs, I make sure to acknowledge the same. Earlier, I have done such things but if someone raises such allegations about the work in Pulimurugan, I would be hurt.
''I was very excited when I started working on Pulimurugan and shared the news on my Facebook page. In no time, the post drew a lot of comments, with many demanding that I deliver a good music album. While the project was a big opportunity, there was high pressure as well and working was not at all easy.
''Every time my music comes out, people raise allegations and are quick to dub it plagiarism. Till now, Pulimurugan has been the most demanding work and I have given my best. Generally, I take a maximum of one month to compose music work for a film. But for Pulimurugan I completed work in three months, with two different schedules. Now, looking back at the hard work, I feel relieved. People are happy and have accepted the 'mass' music whole heatedly.
“No matter whatever troubles or taunts come your way, do things from your heart and hard work will pay off,” the ace composer signed off.
