TV star Basheer Bashi is on a roll post his Bigg Boss sojourn. From making funny videos to posting family pics, Basheer is venturing into online media and hopes to make use of his creativity.

Basheer and his two wives recently started a web-series titled Kallummakkaya. As part of it, Basheer and his spouses came live on YouTube and opened up on his early life and struggles.

Basheer stated that unlike media reports that claimed he was from a well-off family, he was really born into a poor one. “We were settled in Kumbalam near Kochi. Eight kids, five girls and three boys, were part of our family. And you can imagine in such a big family, what would be the condition when your father does not have a stable job,” he said.

“Most days we were starving and my father's only concern was to feed us daily. During one of those days, he started selling peanuts at Marine Drive in Kochi and he could earn for the family from that effort. All those reports which claimed that my father had lot of money and we were enjoying life with his money are false. In fact, I had to drop my studies after completing class 10 due to financial problems,” he added.

From peanut sales, Basheer's father shifted to hawking garments on streets. "That's when my elder brothers joined him and helped him. In the meantime, my sisters were married off. Later, we opened a small shop which gradually took shape and helped us earn well,” he further explained.

Fortune smiled much later on the large family.

Basheer said he bought a BMW car only after the Bigg Boss show and until then he struggled as others in a middle-class family do. It was his interest in music that led him to the world of short films and web-series.

Basheer also stated that his new web series gained him much appreciation and that he aspires to make a movie in the years ahead.

The latest episode of Kallummakkaya will be released online in a couple of days, said Basheer. Kallummakkaya is directed by Basheer, while cinematography and edits are done by Saneesh Sanu.
