Sai Pallavi became an overnight star after her debut in Malayalam with 'Premam' which released on 29 May, 2015. And 4 years, later on the same day, the diva was in Kochi, Kerala. This time for the promotion of her upcoming film with Suriya in the lead.

Years have passed by and many films have come her way but Sai Pallavi chooses to be the same old sans make-up pimple girl.

“Each time I arrive in Kerala, I am often called by the name Malar. It's the character I believe that I am connected with. So, on this day, let me thank everyone for the memorable character and the love for Malar,” she said.

Talking about NGK, Sai Pallavi said that the film was a special one for her. “I am a big fan of Suriya and acting with him is like a dream fulfilled.”

Recently, in an interview with an online portal, Sai Pallavi revealed about the pressure she put on herself during the shoot of 'Premam'.

“Had I not done Premam, I would have applied a 100 creams on my face to remove acne. I hadn’t ever done my eyebrows till then. I asked Alphonse (Premam director) if I should do it. ‘How can I be a heroine when I haven’t cut my hair or done anything at all? What if people walk out of the theatre?’ First day, first show (of the film), I was literally breaking my mother’s bones because I was holding her hand so tight. I was thinking, ‘Oh my voice sounds like a boy’s!’ When people called on the phone, I would change my voice to speak in a more feminine way,” she said.

Sai Pallavi had hit headlines a month ago for rejecting a fairness cream ad. Responding to it, she said, “When me and my sister Pooja used to play standing in front of a mirror, she would look at my face and had a feeling for complexion. So I told her that if she wanted to become fair, she should eat fruits and vegetables. And she did. Then I used to think about the impact little girls have on such things. Moreover, what will I do with the money I get from such an ad? I will eat three chapatis or rice and roam around. I don’t have other big needs. This is the Indian colour. We can’t look like foreigners. That’s their skin colour and this is ours. I have the power to change things in some small way and I would like to use it the right way, that’s why I turned that (ad) down,” Sai Pallavi said.
