Frequent reports that actor Mohanlal would contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections seem to have upset him. In a clear hint that he is unlikely to become a politician, Mohanlal has stated that he was unhappy having to reiterate his position on the matter despite having made it clear many times. He also added that he has already expressed his unwillingness to contest the elections.
Talking to Manorama Online, Mohanlal said that he had clear-cut political stands of his own. However, he was unwilling to disclose his political allegiance on a public platform, he stressed.
Mohanlal was making his statement in the midst of ongoing discussions regarding the possibility of the BJP fielding the superstar as a candidate for the coming LS polls.
“It is normal for political parties to reveal the names of those whom they would be interested in fielding. We cannot blame them. However, the final decision belongs to that individual. I don’t think this is a chair someone could claim just on the basis of some pressure tactics,” he said.
“I have clear-cut political opinions. But I do not desire to reveal that publicly. I’m just making my living, doing the job I know. And I’m trying to put my maximum abilities into that profession. It’s my audience who corrects me and helps me to bring out the actor whom at least some of them believe to be there within me.”
“I’m always with them (the audience). I have my own politics, just like each one of my audience have their own. I’m just expecting them to correct me in my profession and to help me perform better. Please do not drag me into any controversy for the time being,” said Mohanlal.
