Sreenivasan recovering, taken off ventilator

The actor was admitted on Wednesday morning following complaints of breathlessness

Kochi: The condition of Malayalam actor-director Sreenivasan, who was admitted to a hospital here on Wednesday, is improving, said the latest update on Thursday morning. He has been taken off ventilator as per the latest report.

The actor also spoke to his family and friends and expressed his desire to go to the sets of the movie 'Love Action Drama' which marks his youngest son Dhyan Sreenivasan's directorial debut. Although his health is improving, the doctors have advised him rest and will be kept under observation for one more day.


Reportedly, celebs including Nivin Pauly and Aju Varghese are at the hospital.

Earlier, a health bulletin issued by by T.V.Ravi, medical director of the Medical Centre Hospital, Ernakulam, said: "At present the patient is in the ICU with ventilatory support and hemodynamically stable."

The actor was admitted on Wednesday morning following complaints of breathlessness. He was rushed to the hospital from the Lal Media Arts studio, Kochi, where he had reached for the dubbing for his upcoming movie directed by VM Vinu.


He was brought to the hospital at 9.46 a.m as per the health bulletin.

Last year, Sreenivasan had to be hospitalised due to hypertension and diabetes.

He has acted in over 200 films and is a popular screen writer, director and producer. Sreenivasan, who was last featured in 2018 film 'Njan Prakashan', started his career as an actor in 1977 film 'Manimuzhakkam'.

His two sons, elder one - Vineeth Sreenivasan, is a director, lyricist, singer, dubbing artist and actor, while his younger son, Dhyan Sreenivasan, made his debut in 'Thira', a thriller directed by his brother. Currently, Dhyan is gearing up for his directorial debut 'Love action Drama' starring Nivin Pauly and Nayanthara in the lead. The second schedule of the movie had begun just a day before Sreenivasan was admitted.


Having won a few Kerala State Film Awards, Sreenivasan has also won the National Award for the Best Director for 'Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala' in 1998.
