Ambili's ex-husband blames Adityan for ruining his family

Ambili slammed her former husband Lowel (L) after she tied the knot with Adityan (R) recently

Cine-serial stars Ambili Devi and Adityan tied the knot recently, and became the talk of town. Controversies followed the wedding with some alleging that Adityan had married thrice before. The controversies took a nasty turn when a video of Ambili’s ex–husband, cameraman Lowel, celebrating her wedding by cutting a cake triggered more speculations on social media.

Adityan and Ambili then appeared in the media together and trashed all the allegations. Adityan alleged that it was a producer who was spreading lies that he had been married thrice. Meanwhile, Ambili slammed her former husband, who according to her never even remembered their kid’s birthday, but decided to celebrate her wedding with a cake.

In an exclusive interview with Manoramonline, S Lowel, noted cameraman and Ambili Devi’s ex opens up about the controversies. He alleges that it was Adityan who ruined his family.

How long were you married?

We got married on March 27, 2009. We were together for eight years. It was just 8 months ago that we got legally separated.

Adityan (R) became friends with my kid to form a relationship with Ambili, said Lowel (C). File photo of Ambili and Lowel (L)

Wasn’t it a love marriage?

Yes, it was. It was I who confessed my love first. Later, Ambili too fell for me. We were working together in a TV serial called ‘Snehathooval’ directed by Unni Cherian, during that time. Adityan too had worked in this serial. We liked each other and our families too agreed to the relationship. With their blessings, we got married in a lavish ceremony at the Kollam cooperative auditorium.

What were the problems that led to the separation?

I still don’t know how to answer that question. There would be small differences of opinions between every married couple, right? Some people have deliberately tried to destroy our marriage by lying to Ambili that I had relationships with other women.

Do you think Adityan was involved in it?

Yes, I do. It was Adityan who tried the most to ruin my family life. He was already attracted to Ambili and wished to marry her as well. He has even openly admitted it. He spread lies about me to fulfill his wish. He has succeeded in it. However, it is I who lost my life.

Ambili and Adityan trashed all the allegations

What were the instances that led to the divorce?

When there were differences, it was Ambili who suggested that we live separately for a while. She had made it clear that she was not interested to get divorced or marry someone else. I too had agreed in the hope that it may make things better between us. I lived separately for 7 months and I did that for the sake of my child. I would occasionally visit Ambili’s house and leave after meeting the kid. One day, Ambili called me up suddenly and asked for a divorce.

Ambili said that you have never expressed love for your kid...

I am sure God knows all the truth. My son Appu loved to be in my arms all the time. But, they turned him against me in the last one year. The court has ruled that he should be left with me for three days in a month. But they won’t leave him with me for more than 5 minutes. Now, Appu urges to go back as soon as he sees me. They have manipulated a six-seven year old kid by presenting me as a vile person.

They won’t give him whatever I buy for my child. If I buy him sweets, then they would throw it away. They won’t make him wear the clothes that I buy for him, saying that they don’t fit. I usually buy bigger clothes for him. The court has also ruled that I should pay Rs 2,500 every month towards my son’s expenses. I have given it until now without any failure.

Adityan became friends with my kid to form a relationship with Ambili. He spread lies about me and filled Ambili’s mind with venom. Everything became easier when both of them began to act as husband and wife in a serial. He began to dote for my son while keeping his own child away. So all of you can guess about his real intentions, right?

Do you have any evidence to prove that it was Adityan who tried to destroy your married life?

Let me tell you an incident which happened recently. A few goons had threatened Ambili at a shooting location. They had told that they were my people. But it was, in fact, Adityan who sent them. The blame, however, fell on my head. Ambili filed a police complaint and I had to visit the Chottanikkara police station many times as part of the case. Those who came to testify against me hailed from Adityan’s native place. The witnesses of the incident, which apparently happened in Ernakulam, were all from Kollam. The police officers understood the reality and the SI advised me, ‘Brother this is a fake case. I think you should leave that woman alone’. Tarnishing the image of a person by falsely accusing them is a vile trick played by Adityan many a times. Many in the serial industry have fallen prey to it.

Why did you agree for a mutual divorce?

I lived separately for seven months hoping that we could get back together when all the differences were sorted out. But if she says she doesn’t want me, what else should I do? I kept thinking about Ambili and my son’s future. I hoped she could live with someone who she thinks is better than me. I have even said this to Ambili. But she was adamant that she needed a divorce. Maybe, she did that for this relationship’s sake. We had jointly owned a 5-cent plot. It was Ambili who gave the major share of money to purchase that land. She demanded it back and I had returned it in her name.

When did you hear the news about her wedding?

I learned about it just two days before the wedding. As soon as I came to know about it, I ringed up Ambili’s father and said that it was her freedom to live with whoever she wants. However I insisted that my child shouldn’t be hurt in any way. Five minutes after I hung up the phone, a goon, who introduced himself as Adityan’s friend called and threatened to kill me if I didn’t shut my mouth.

It is said that you celebrated Ambili and Adityan’s marriage with a cake on their wedding day.

You should realise that all these are said by those who tore apart my heart into bits.

Do you have anything else to say about these controversies?

I shouldn’t be denied my right to see my son and spend time with him. I wish Ambili to live happily with her new husband, the ‘perfect’ one, who apparently possesses all the admiring qualities. I feel very sad when many online media publish obscene or untrue comments about Ambili. Even if she left me for someone else, didn’t she live with me for so many years? She is my child’s mother too, right?
