Yes, it was Thalaiva versus Thala as 'Petta' and 'Viswasam' both released on this Pongal.
Making the most out of the festiva l season, Rajinikanth's 'Petta' and Ajith's 'Viswasam' are winning over the audience and raking in the moolah at the box office. In Tamil Nadu, Ajith's 'Viswasam' is leading by Rs 10 crore over Rajinikanth's 'Petta'.
However, 'Petta' is leading the race overall as of now considering it has already touched the Rs 100 crore mark worldwide in four days but that doesn't mean 'Viswasam' is lagging far behind.
The point to be noted here is that 'Viswasam' was released only in the Tamil language whereas 'Petta' was released in three languages - Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. According to reports, in its four-day weekend, 'Petta' has made Rs 111.35 crore at the worldwide box office and 'Viswasam' has made Rs 97.50 crore globally in the same time period.
With Rajinikanth and Ajith having good number of fans, the collection is expected to go up this weekend.
While 'Petta' is getting applauds for bringing back vintage Rajinikanth, 'Viswasam' is receiving thumps up for being a true family entertainer.
