The movie was largely inspired by the Indian folktale Baital Pachisi. The film tells the story of Vikram, a police inspector who sets out to track down and kill Vedha, a gangster. In January 2015, Sashikanth revealed that he would be producing another film directed by Pushkar and Gayathri.
