Abhishek Bachchan explains why celebs served food at Ambani wedding

Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal, the children of top Indian industrialists, tied the knot on December 12 in a lavish wedding ceremony held in Mumbai. Internet has been digging out videos and photos of the grand function since the past few days.

Among the photos that surfaced online, the Bollywood big names, including Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, his son Abhishek Bachchan and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were seen serving food to the guests. While the guests were seated at the dining tables, the Bollywood superstars were photographed serving them one dish after another.

Netizens, who are not much aware of the unique customs in their own country, were shocked and surprised to see the conduct of their heroes. While some trolled the celebrities, others praised them for their humble gestures.

Soon, it was actor Abhishek who came up with an explanation for the conduct, saying it is a traditional practice. In reply to a Twitter user's query, Abhishek explained that as per the “sajjan ghot” custom the bride’s family feeds the groom’s family.

It was not just the Bachchans and the Khans who represented Bollywood at Isha Ambani's wedding in Mumbai on Wednesday. The star-studded guest list also featured names such as couples Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh as well as Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, besides Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, Karan Johar among others.
