Mammooty becomes first Malayalam actor to find a place in Forbes list


Based on the earnings of celebrities in the entertainment industry, Forbes India has published the list of top 100 celebrities. Interestingly, Malayalam actor Mammooty has found a place. This is the first time that an actor from the Malayalam film industry is part of the Forbes list. Meanwile, actress Nayanthara too has marked a place in the list, this year too.

Mammooty is in the 48th position and Nayanthara, the one and only woman celebrity from South India who bagged 68th position.


Mammooty earned Rs 18 crores from the entertainment business alone last year while Nayanthara’s income from 2017-18 is Rs 15.17 crores.


Forbes list is formulated on the basis of the income of celebrities from 1st October 2017 to 30th September 2018.

Salman Khan for the past three consecutive years has topped the list. According to Forbes India, he earned Rs 253.25 crore from entertainment last year. He is followed by Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli with Rs 228.09 crores. Next is actor Akshay Kumar with Rs 185 crores and on the fourth position is Deepika Padukone with Rs 112.8 crores. She is the only woman celebrity in the top 5.

Ranveer Singh her husband is in the 8th position. Priyanka, who was ranked on the 7th position on Forbes India Celebrity 100 list 2017 has gone down to the 49th position this year with a minimal earning of Rs 18 crore. Her migration to Hollywood is the probable reason for her less earning from the Indian Entertainment this year. Shah Rukh Khan who was on third position last year has fallen down to the 13th rank this year with a total earning of Rs 56 crore as as there weren’t any releases this year.

The other celebrities in the top 10 are M S Dhoni on the 5th position, Aamir Khan comes 6th, Amithabh Bachchan 7th, Sachin Tendulkar 9th and Ajay Devgan 10th.

A R Rahman is in the 11th position and Rajnikanth is in the 14th place.
