When Mammootty 'piloted' an airplane for the first time Mammootty's obsession with speed has often left his fans wondering how far he'd go (file photo).

Megastar Mammootty's fascination for zooming cars and super cool gadgets is quite a known fact. Similarly, the screen icon’s obsession with speed has often left his fans wondering how far he'd go. Can his fascination get sky high? Like, literally?

And viola! The megastar responds in the affirmative!

When he was asked by a fan at a recent Vanitha interview if he'd ever flown an airplane, the megastar said that though he doesn’t know how to fly an airplane, he had done it once.

“We were shooting in Ras al-Khaimah for the movie ‘Dubai’, and we had a scene in which I would land in a small two-seater plane.

“The pilot was a good trainer and he kept forcing me to try flying the airplane. When he insisted too much I really felt confident. All I had to do was to move the joystick forward and backward. I did what he said and the plane took off.

As soon as the plane was airborne, I thought things were getting out of my hands. When we were flying low to land, I could see the electric lines. I was terrified and somehow we managed the touch down,” Mammootty disclosed his funny ‘flying’ experience.

Mammootty added that the movie’s director, veteran film maker Joshi, had planned to shoot the former’s introduction scene where the actor would be shown flying a plane by himself.

“But I didn’t have the courage to fly the plane once more. So we dropped the plan,” the actor laughed.

Meanwhile, the mega star’s flying experience has already become a rage on social media.
