Palakkad: The location video of Mohanlal's big budget film Odiyan has been officially released by Manorama Online. The massive set prepared by art director Prasanth Madhav can be seen in the video. The location is Kongad in Palakkad district where Prasanth has recreated an ancient village on 20 acres of land.
This set is the biggest one prepared for a Malayalam film so far. In the film, the action takes place in a village named Thenkurissi.
Shooting is now in progress for the part of the film dealing with the youth of Odiyan, the character enacted by Mohanlal. Others seen in the video include Prakash Raj, Naren, Siddique and Resul Pookutty.
Mohanlal has undergone a major and never-before makeover for the film directed by Sreekumar Menon. Prakash Raj is the villain and Manju Warrier is the heroine. Another attraction of Odiyan is that action choreographer Peter Hain is working on his second Malayalam film after Pulimurugan. Odiyan is produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad cinemas.
Myth and history are intertwined in the character of Odiyan. So, viewers will be mesmerised throughout the length of the film as the suspense over fantasy and reality would persist till the end. According to folk tales, Odiyan, who appears as half- man and -animal at night, knows the secret technique to abort a fully grown foetus using a bamboo stick.
The screenplay of Odiyan is by national award-winning mediaperson Hari Krishnan. He has given importance to action and VFX to prepare the fantasy thriller. Around Rs 7 crore is being spent for the VFX of the film, which has a total budget of Rs 35 crore.
