Dulquer to play Team India captain, stars along with Sonam in 'Zoya Factor'

Undoubtedly, we can say the year is going to be the best in the career for actor Dulquer Salmaan. After his successful outings like Solo, Charlie, OK Kanmani, Bangalore Days and Kammatipaadam, the actor has now bagged his second Hindi film.

This time, the actor is going to share the screen with Bollywood's brilliant actor Sonam Kapoor. He is roped in for the film Zoya Factor, an adaptation of the wildly popular 2008 novel called 'The Zoya Factor' by Anuja Chauhan.

Dulquer Salmaan announced the news on his Facebook page on Monday.

Director Abhishek Sharma completed the final draft of the script and will start shooting in August.

Dulquer will play Nikhil Khoda, the captain of the Indian Cricket Team, in the film for which Fox Star Studios is collaborating with Aarti and Pooja Shetty, with Sonam as Zoya Singh Solanki, an advertising agent. The film is expected to release on April 5, 2019.

'The Zoya Factor' tells the tale of a Rajput girl, Zoya Solanki (Sonam), who meets the Indian Cricket Team through her job as an executive in an advertising agency and ends up becoming a lucky charm for the team in the 2010 Cricket World Cup. Zoya was born at the moment when India lifted the 1983 World Cup.

Sharma believes that cricket woven into a "rom-com and touching on superstition and luck, is an amazing book for a screen adaptation".

"The book has many layers, characters and tracks. Sonam is our Zoya Singh Solanki, an advertising agency executive. She was the first person that came to my mind as she's as bubbly as Zoya. Dulquer will play Nikhil Khoda, the captain of the Indian Cricket Team in the film. It's always great to work with Adlabs Films," Sharma said in a statement.

Ealier, Sonam Kapoor had bought the rights for 'The Zoya Factor' and Chauhan's another novel, 'Battle for Bittora'. In August last year, the actor took to Twitter to confirm her involvement in the on-screen adaptation of 'The Zoya Factor.'

Meanwhile, Dulquer's Bollywood debut film Karwan, directed by Akash Khurana, will soon hit the screens. Having written several successful screenplays, this film will be Akash's first directorial venture. Karwan has Dulquer playing the lead along with Irrfan Khan, Kriti Kharbanda and Mithila Palkar in the supporting roles.
