The much-celebrated dance reality show of Malayalam television, Eastern D4 Junior vs Senior, had a flamboyant closure at a star-studded grand finale on Sunday.
After a long wait and numerous predictions, the most popular contestant from the house of juniors, Soorya, was crowed the winner of this season, amid loud cheer and applause.
Vaiga, the charming girl who stunned the audience with her exceptional stunts, was adjudged the first runner-up.
Hearing the name being announced by the judges, the audience burst into a thunderous applause.
Soorya was collected and was in control of his emotions though he did not desist from expressing joy and excitement at the win.
Soorya, 12, had shown up as a hard-working but understated aspirant who worked his way up without much fanfare through the first half of the show.
But then, he quickly altered his act and rose fast with exquisite performances, theme-based numbers and fusion dance-forms with strong messages.
His performances were noted for the excellent choreography, skillful execution and minute detail.
“I am happy that I won the title. I am thankful to my parents, teachers and friends who supported me. D4 Dance has been a long-time dream of mine. I danced in the last season in a group called Ninja. I feel overjoyed... Thank you all,” Soorya said.
Vaiga was always counted in as a a sure-shot finalist, right from her audition.
She displayed fine movement quality and was articulate. Vaiga made the best use of her supple physique to perform fluid movements.
“I never expected I would get such a big platform,” she said after being adjudged the first runner-up.
Bollywood charmer Madhoo Shah show-stopped the event as the chief celebrity guest.
The whole D4 crew, including Priya Mani, Mamta Mohandas, Prasanna Master, Neerav, Elina and Vijay were present at the grand function.
