“There was a time when Abi struggled to reach from stage to stage due to continuous programs. He flew from Dubai to US and back within hours to perform the shows he committed. He saw the heights any other mimicry artist could only dream of. His troupe called Kochin Sagar is where I learned the basics of my profession. It is disappointing that he left the world without gaining anything,” Saju Kodiyan told Onmanorama.
He said that he was introduced to the stages and the film industry because he enacts Abi's masterpiece number Aaminathatha well and Abi was too busy to reach at every show. “I achieved my position in the industry just because of Abi. For several nights we sat together at his home to write scripts for stage shows and to plan new numbers. We have been intimate friends,” Saju Kodiyan added.
Agreeing that Abi offered better heights in the industry, Saju said that there are fewer actors who could both mimic and act perfectly. “I believe that is one prerequisite in acting. In that aspect, our industry denied him the stardom he deserved,” he said.
