“When I hear that name, the first image that comes to my mind is that of a tender boy who acted with me in Fazil's Aniyathipravu. Then comes the flawless figure of Aaminathatha, whom Abi enlivened on numerous stages. Abi is quite an underrated actor. He never received good characters to manifest his talents at his full,” actor Innocent recalls the actor and mimic Abi.
Innocent remembered an occasion when the two met during an award function in Qatar . “When we met last in Qatar Abi introduced his son Shine to me, with great pride. 'Innocent chetta, this is my son. He is debuting as a hero in an upcoming movie. You'd know how happy I am,' he told me, with gleaming eyes. But I was happy for another reason. At least the good God gave the son what the father deserved,” Innocent said.
Innocent expressed his grief in Abi's demise and said that God should have given him some more time to live the life of a superstar's father. “It is easy to entertain the audience by mimicking popular figures but introducing a woman in one's own family on stage and winning over a thousand venues with that same number needs incredible talent and skill. I haven't met Amina Thatha or none of us have. But look how beautifully Abi presented her as our next-door woman,” said Innocent.
The actor who was heading to the hospital where Abi was admitted, added that Abi cannot be remembered as a supporting actor but a strong figure in mimicry and a superstar our industry missed.
