Thrissur: National award winning director Priyanandanan is selling the tickets for his latest movie Paathirakaalam. The director hired Girija Theater in Thrissur for two days and the movie will be exhibited at 9 am on December 3 and 4.
Priyanandanan said, “There is no other way to make people watch the movie. So we have decided to hire a theater and sell tickets ourselves.” The director even requested his friends to buy at least a ticket worth Rs 500 that would admit three.
Paathirakaalam is produced by Murali Matunga at a cost of Rs 70 lakh, and it would cost another Rs 30 lakhs to release the movie. The director said that even if the movie gets released it doesn’t mean that it would be a commercial success or bring profits to the producer. So the makers have decided to hire a theater in every district and exhibit the movie. The director is hopeful that the real movie enthusiasts who stand by good cinema would spend whatever they have to buy tickets to watch his movie.
Priyanandan’s movie was shown at the Kolkata International Film Festival and had earned rave reviews from the audience and the media. A Bengali woman at the festival who couldn’t control her tears while watching the film even hugged its heroine Mythili. Paathirakaalam is the story of Jahanara a young student at the Berlin University who sets out on a journey in search of her father who is a social worker in Kerala.
The movie is shot around various locations in Kerala from Kollankod to Wayanad. Priyanandanan’s son Ashwaghosh has wielded the camera for the movie.
Director Sathyan Anthikad has posted on social media that he would be there to watch the movie. Priyan says that this sort of support that they get from film personalities like Anthikad is the biggest promotion for their movie. He says, “There are tickets in my bag. Those who can spare a big amount are ready to do so. But lovers of good cinema are not going to give it a miss just because they don’t have money to buy tickets”. For tickets: 9447566662
