Priyanka lost films after refusing to wear 'itsy-bitsy clothes' while meeting director Priyanka Chopra and her mother Madhu Chopra

Mumbai: Priyanka Chopra, who recently spoke about the "many Harvey Weinsteins across the world", had lost at least 10 movies as she had refused to present herself before a reputed director in "itsy-bitsy clothes", her mother Madhu Chopra said.

In an interview to a national daily, Madhu said Priyanka could have starred in 10 more movies, which she missed out on after rejecting a project by a director of repute.

"A designer told Priyanka that the director's brief was to dress her in itsy-bitsy clothes. The director had said, 'What is the point of having a Miss World in front of the camera if we cannot show her as her beautiful self?' Priyanka refused to do the film," Madhu was quoted in the interview.

According to the report, Madhu was talking about how her daughter tackled harassment during her initial days in the Bollywood.

Narrating another incident of when Priyanka stood by her values even as a fresher in the industry, Madhu Chopra told Deccan Chronicle: "She was just 17 when she entered the industry, so I accompanied her till about three years ago. A gentleman who wanted to narrate a story asked her: 'Will your mother sit outside while I narrate the story to you?' Priyanka told him, 'If it is a story that my mother can't hear then it is a story that I cannot do'." Madhu Chopra is also part of Priyanka's production house Purple Pebble Pictures and is her manager.

Priyanka Chopra, earlier, had said that people like the controversial Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein are present across the world.

"I don't think there is only a Harvey Weinstein in Hollywood. I think there will be a lot more stories that will come up. That happens not just in India, but all over the world. It's the power of men trying to take away the power of women. It’s about feeling powerful and macho," she said while speaking at the 2017 Marie Claire Power Trip in Los Angeles.

Priyanka was crowned Miss World in 2000, the year she celebrated her 18th birthday, and then two years later she made her acting debut with Tamil film Thamizhan. The following year, she was introduced in Bollywood with The Hero: Love Story of a Spy. Currently, Priyanka has over 40 films on her resume and a popular American TV show and a Hollywood movie to go with.

Priyanka Chopra has recently been listed by Forbes on the List Of 100 Most Powerful Women. Forbes placed Priyanka on the 15th spot on the list of Most Powerful Women In Entertainment And Media. Priyanka Chopra is currently in California, busy with the third season of Quantico.
