Although Ramaleela has opened to positive reviews from moviegoers and critics alike, the cast and crew of the movie still have their fingers crossed.
But Kalabhavan Shajohn, who does the role of Thomas Chacko, aka TC, in Ramaleela, says he has had an intuition that the Dileep-starrer would be a box-office hit. “I normally get an intuition about a movie's success after we finish the shoot schedules. That is one skill stage performers often possess – to gauge the possible audience response. Thomas Chacko is a character that made me hopeful about the movie’s success. I wish no prejudices stand in Ramaleela’s way to success,” he added.
An actor who came to the film industry through mimicry, Shajohn says that controversies develop on their own and a movie will always perform to its potential.
“Ramaleela began as a storyline in the mind of writer Sachy. Arun Gopy, a passionate director, ideated a thriller movie out of it and took so much pain to make it. It made use of the actor in Dileep and I believe the last point shouldn't be a roadblock to the rest,” he said.
‘Dileep’s versatility has always surprised me’
Meanwhile, Prayaga Martin, the lead actress of the movie believes nothing can beat the trust art has vested in the sensible audience of Mollywood. “I grew up as a fan-girl of actor Dileep. His versatility in acting has always surprised me. For me, this is my first movie with one of the superstars of the industry. I'm extremely sad about the controversies surrounding it. Yet, I am pretty hopeful about its success,” she told Onmanorama.
Commenting on the pre-release public response, Prayaga said that mass boycotting of an art-work is the worst setback a group of artists could ever get. “I want the audience to accept Ramaleela just like any other movie. Let’s discuss all controversies outside the movie hall,” she said.
Openly declaring her support for the jailed actor, Prayaga said that Dileep’s 'Janapriyan' tag is title well-earned and it cannot be passed on to others in such a short span of time.
The young actor, who made her presence felt through a number of movies like Viswasapoorvam Mansoor, Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan, and Ore Mukham has done a prominent role in Pokkiri Simon, which hit theatres along with Ramaleela this Navratri.
