Mannamkattayum Kariyilayum

Beneath all box office hits and superstar movies, there are a few films that sneak into theaters without any hype and fanfare. Sometimes, they become unexpectedly thoughtful, proving small is beautiful.

Often times, they deal with a simple plot. But filmmakers can vouch for the fact that simple realities are actually harder to execute.

Arun Sagara’s Mannamkattayum Kariyilayum is one such movie – a simple story that’s well executed.

The plot revolves around the life of a husband and wife, played by Joby and Srinda, respectively. The couple leads a happy life and their happiness knows no bounds when they are blessed with a baby girl. But unfortunately, the happiness is fleeting. The incidents that sabotage their happiness form the crux of the story.

While Joby excels in the worn out shoes of a distraught father, Srinda effortlessly emotes as his other half. Indrans, Shine Tom Chacko and Saiju Kurupp give mature and realistic performances.

Sujin Dev’s music gels well with the thrilling storyline. The cinematography by NRG is a true portrayal of real-life moments.

Mannamkattayum Kariyilayum may not be everyone’s choice, but it will definitely make you think.
