The play 'Bhagavante Maranam Veendum' – God dies again, is based on a short story by writer KR Meera and staged by director Hazim Amaravila a year back in Thiruvananthapuram.

And still, the drama is garnering attention of one and all. The recent one to join the list includes writer MV Narayanan, a scholar-researcher in the performing arts of Kerala.

In a statement, Narayanan explains the importance of such a play in a socially driven society. “While some plays point to be politically correct, some gets applaud for its technicalities and there would be some that would make us ponder over and a few other would be brilliant with its context. And having all these attributes together in one play is one rare thing to see. Veendum Bhagavante Maranam, presented by Kanal Samskarika Vedi and directed by Hazim Amaravila, is one such valiant attempt.”

The story although focuses on a relationship between a professor, a philosopher, a murderer, and a mentor, it briefs a journey of revenge and reformation. Hazim has in fact designed it as a play within the play and the drama also addresses issues of discrimination.

“I don't think such a treatment have been ever tried in theater plays before,” he further stated and added, “it so well involves you into it emotionally.”

'Balancing act' is how he put across with regard to the performances. “With the play itself being a ‘rehearsal in progress’ along with character-driven plot make the play a thought-provoking experience.”

He concluded his statement by thanking the whole team for presenting before him a gratifying play in recent times.
