Chalakudy: A CPM branch secretary had a memorable New Year after he made good an opportunity to wear a police cap. He publicised his selfies posing with the cap on social media, however, he didn't foresee the reaction from the police authorities. The incident happened at the Chalakudy police station in Kerala's Thrissur district on New Year's eve.
Anuraj, the party branch secretary of Potta's K K Road zone, also posted the photos on Facebook with the caption, 'Puthuvarsham police stationil, njetallil' (roughly translates to 'At a police station on New Year's, in shock').
He took five such photos of him along with five friends.
Anuraj has been summoned to the police station. No case has been registered over the case, Sub-inspector B K Arun said.
Reportedly only two cops were at the station at this time as two dozen people had gathered to secure bail for 12 people who were taken into custody over traffic violations and creating ruckus in public places. Other police personnel from the station were deployed in the town where thousands had gathered for New Year celebrations.
Anuraj too had reached the station to take bail for one such person. He took the police cap kept in the relaxation room and took several selfies, including some with friends.
The FB post was removed after the photos triggered a row and the special branch of the police has already submitted a report.
