Thiruvananthapuram: Two KSRTC bus staff, who helped to rush a pregnant woman passenger to hospital here after she experienced severe labour pain, are being praised for their prompt action.
The woman reported severe labour pain when the bus had reached Vattapara Junction on the busy Venjaramoodu-Kesavadasapuram road on Monday morning.
As soon as the passengers on board suggested SAT Hospital, driver Gireesh and conductor Sajan decided to alert the police and immediately proceed to the hospital amid traffic choke.
The police, on receiving the alert, meanwhile cleared the traffic from Kesavadasapuram onwards so that the bus could travel without hindrance. The bus didn't stop at scheduled halts en route to the hospital.
After admitting the woman to the hospital, the bus was driven to the KSRTC central depot at Thampanoor with the passengers. Soon. the bus commenced its services.
Gireesh and Sajan belong to the Chadayamangalam depot of the public transporter.
