Pazhakulam (Adoor): An expatriate died after suffering a head injury in a scuffle with neighbours. Pazhakulam Aifa Manzil Sharafudeen (45) died as he suffered a serious head injury due to blows received during the brawl.

The police arrested Sajeev, a resident of Kizhakethil House at Thadathivilayil, Pazhakulam, and his brother Najeeb of Zamzam Villa in the same locality. The accused had reportedly surrendered before the police following the incident which happened at 11 pm on Saturday at the Pazhakulam town.

According to the police, Najeeb's son had hit the deceased's sister's son with his bike last Friday. Najeeb and Sharafudeen had an altercation over this.

The accused hit Sharafudeen on his head with the name board in front of the shop. An iron rod attached on the board pierced through Sharafudeen's head.

Though he was rushed to a nearby private hospital Sharafudeen could not be saved.

Sharafudeen had reached his hometown on leave last month. He had been working in Saudi Arabia. He is survived by his wife Shoufi and children Aifa and Aakhil.
