Shoranur: A green protocol has come into force at Shoranur Municipal Office. Now, all employees have to bring fountain pens instead of plastic pens.

From January 26, 2019, the protocol will come into effect at all government offices in the municipality limits.

Guidelines to avoid all kinds of plastic material in the Municipal Office will be followed as a first step. Employees have been directed to avoid plastic bags, tiffin boxes and bottles.

Food parcels with plastic packing will not be allowed. The aim is to encourage the use of plates and tumblers made of steel and glass.

Municipality employees have to ensure that they carry cloth bags and fountain pens.

The authorities will be offering seeds and saplings as gifts. Staff should choose cloth to prepare banners.

Meanwhile, public arriving at the local body office are also being advised to adopt the green protocol. Municipal authorities had earlier asked schools to abide by the protocol.
