One of the deceased had just arrived from Dubai and the other two had reached the airport to pick up their common friend. The accident happened when they were on the way to their friends' houses to hand over gifts sent by their friends in the UAE.

On Sunday evening, Sanoop and his friend Unais went to the airport in his car to receive Shihabuddeen who was working in Dubai.

On returning from the airport, the three of them had reached Shihabuddeen's house at Valanchery around 1 am and left within an hour in the same car to have food from outside and distribute gifts sent by friends in Dubai.

Shihabuddeen's family members said he did not even wait for food since it was late and left with friends after leaving his baggage at the house.
