Lost and found case of Assamese girl puzzles Valapuram

Kolathur: A 14-year-old girl belonging to a family of migrant labourers from Assam gave sleepless night to relatives, the police and local people here after she was reported missing on Monday. The girl, living in a rented house along with relatives in Valapuram town, was reported 'missing under mysterious circumstances.'

The people of the locality spent the night looking for her. All houses, roads, wells and even the river bank was searched. Some residents said they had seen the girl running out of her house in tears. The police reached the spot soon after the incident was reported and joined the local people in the search.

The efforts of the locals and the police officers continued till next day morning. Finally, the frightened girl was found hiding in a closet beneath the stairs of her own house.

The Kolathur police launched an investigation to unravel the mystery behind the incident.
