Malappuram: An ATM of Canara Bank at Ramapuram near the Kozhikode National Highway was found vandalized Wednesday morning.
The glass panes of the ATM have been found broken. The police suspect that the robbers might have tried to take away the entire ATM by tying it to a vehicle.
The ATM is in a fully damaged condition, but it is unlikely that money was lost. CCTV footage shows a person with the face smeared with black oil entering the kiosk.
The ATM is functioning out of a complex owned by Karimpanakkal Yousuf on the Ramapuram-Kadungapuram road. People out for a morning walk saw things scattered inside the kiosk and informed the complex owner who alerted bank officials and the police.
The CCTV camera inside the ATM kiosk has been sprayed with black paint. The police plan to check a CCTV camera installed outside another shop in the complex which might have caught the robbers in action.
Four days ago, an attempt to loot an SBI ATM took place at Thenjipalam. There too robbers couldn't get any money.
