As the key to the house was left on the lock, Smitha’s friend and husband entered the house and found Smitha lying on a bed with injury marks on her neck suggesting that she was strangulated using a cable wire or something. Police found Saneesh’s amulet and thread entangled in Smitha’s anklet.

The neighbours said that it was Saneesh who arranged the rented house for Smitha and she introduced him as her younger brother and her children addressed him as uncle.
