Two train passengers hurt in stone-throwing

Kochi: Stone-throwing at a moving train has been reported from near Ernakulam South railway station for the second time in two weeks. Two passengers were injured in the incident. They are Uvais (23) of Mattathil House, Illikkal in Kottayam and Mano Thomas (44) of Mundakkal House, Kaipuzha.

The stones were thrown at the Shoranur - Thiruvananthapuram Venad Express from near Kathrikadavu bridge around 6 pm on Wednesday. After the incident was reported, the train was detained for some time at Tripunithura railway station and first aid was administered to the injured persons, said Railway Police officials.

One week ago, a similar incident took place when the Maveli Express was passing the Ernakulam South station. The glass window of an air-conditioned compartment was shattered in stone-throwing, but no one was injured. One person has been arrested in connection with the incident.
