Kayamkulam (Alappuzha): Passengers on board a KSRTC bus had a scary time last night as an inebriated driver was at the wheel. After a risky drive for a while, the passengers decided to protest as the Kaliyikkavila-Thrissur bus reached the Kayamkulam depot at midnight. However, the riders were in a dilemma as the angry driver abandoned the bus and disappeared.
A drama unfolded at around 1.30am at the depot as soon as the passengers raised a hue and cry saying the man was sozzled. Once off the bus and confirmed drunk, the driver was approached by coworkers and made to sit on a chair. But he fled from the bus stand in the guise of going to the washroom. Driver Prasobh from the Kayamkulam depot completed the trip.
The driver reportedly belonged to KSRTC's Parassala depot near the state border. He seemed to lose control of the bus after it had left from Kaliyikkavila in Kanniyakumari district of Tamil Nadu at 9.45pm.
