Chengannur: Both Radhamani and Sunitha passed the SSLC examination studying in the same class, sharing the same text book.
But that is not all that connects these two students - Sunitha, 33, is the daughter of Radhamani, 58, of Chengannur. Both of them appeared together for the SSLC equivalency examination conducted by the Literacy Mission Kerala.
Both the woman and daughter had failed at the SSLC examination which ended their education. They were prompted to take the equivalency examination by TK Suresh, an engineering college staff.
The duo registered themselves at the Municipality Literacy Mission and attended the equivalency class held at Puliyoor Govt. High School. Both of them studied together, asking doubts to one another. They wrote the exam at St. Anns HSS on November 8 last year. Radhamani, who is the president of the Kudumbasree unit, finds employment through the National Rural Employment Generation Scheme (Thozhilurappu Paddhathi). Sunitha works as a home nurse. Both of them had to find time for their studies after finishing off all the other chores.
Both the woman and the daughter now aim at starting their plus-two courses.
