MLA pays fine for promoting women's wall without helmet

Overenthusiasm shown by Kayamkulam MLA U Prathibha to promote the Women’s Wall has landed her in trouble. The MLA had led a two-wheeler rally without wearing a helmet along the Kayamkulam – Punalur road and photos of the event appeared in newspapers and were circulated widely on social media.

This attracted much criticism as Prathibha is a vocal votary of road safety measures and intervenes regularly in discussions over the issue on social media.

Finally, to avoid legal measures, the MLA was forced to pay a fine. “I was euphoric over the Women’s Wall and forgot all about wearing a helmet during the two-wheeler publicity rally. When I realized the lapse, I immediately paid the fine to give the message that nobody should ride a two-wheeler without a helmet,” Prathibha told Manorama News.
