Muthukulam (Alappuzha): Villagers in Chingoli can’t stop recount the tale of the good thief. Three days after the local dairy farmers’ cooperative reported the theft of a massive metal vessel, the thief has returned it under the cover of night.

The Chingoli Dairy Farmers’ Cooperative Society lost the vessel on January 3. Somebody had prized open the warehouse to take away the vessel that had been used by the women farmers to cook the sweet milk peda. The vessel cost about Rs 50,000.

The society’s president, Munjinatt Ramachandran, reported the theft to the police, who had promptly started investigation into the case and interrogated several suspects. They were surprised by the thief who returned the vessel as secretly as he had taken it.

Kareelakkulangara sub inspector Shyju Abraham is yet to close the case though. He said he was still after the thief. Even the villagers would like to have a glimpse of him. What made him repent after all?
