Big boost for Kerala IT sector as US multinational set to open GTC at Technopark A building at Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram.

Thiruvananthapuram: US multinational H&R Block will set up its Global Technology Center (GTC) in India at nearby Technopark. The center will provide IT & IT enabled services and host around 300 employees in the first phase when it becomes operational, a press release said. There are plans to expand to over 1,000 employees in a couple of years time.

H&R Block will become the first MNC to come to Technopark after Oracle in 2012, which is a great boost for Kerala to get highlighted in the global IT market. "Senior officials of the parent company are expected to visit here this month to sign off the MoU and start operations", the release said.

About allotted 27,000 sqft space has been alloted to GTC in phase 3 for H&R Block.

The company is expected to start work immediately and have the first phase operational soon, according to Hrishikesh Nair, CEO of Technopark.

H&R Block, a global consumer tax services company, has revenues over $ 3 billion and has prepared more than 720 million tax returns, since its inception in 1955.

The company headquartered in Kansas City, USA, also has operations in Canada and Australia, with more than 12000 retail tax offices worldwide.

The Technopark office will be H&R Blocks first Global Technology Center in the country.
