The recent spike in the number of Chikungunya cases in Delhi has created a certain amount of concern among the public. Here is what you need to know about the disease:

Chikungunya is a mosquito-borne viral disease. The virus is transmitted through female mosquitoes. There are two species of mosquitoes that are involved in spreading Chikungunya - Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus.

Treatment and prevention

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there are no specific drugs that can cure this disease. The treatment focuses on relieving the person from the above mentioned symptoms. Also, there are no vaccines that can prevent the disease from occurring.

Here are a few preventive measures:

» It is advised to wear clothes that cover the body entirely
