Cooking up your own weight-loss diet can lead to bad health and lifestyle syndromes, experts say. A sudden fall in the quantity of vitamins and minerals may even lead to obesity. A. Sasidharan, managing director and chief consultant at Wellness Diet – a group that runs wellness canteens in hospitals across Kerala, said an exclusive vegetable/fruit diet or skipping meals would worsen your obesity problem instead of curing it.
“The amount of your regular physical activities should determine your diet. If you are a person doing manual labor all day, your diet cannot be same as the one of a chair-stuck techie,” said Sasidharan, “Weight-loss is a treatment that needs expert supervision.”
However, Sasidharan suggested that a healthy breakfast combo would supplement bodily requirements while helping to reduce body weight. One glass of wheat grass juice with two egg white omelets would serve your body's breakfast needs, said Sasidharan. “Breakfast is brain food. Skipping breakfast in order to reduce body weight is dangerous. Compromising food for the purpose of weight reduction causes protein deficiency, vitamin deficiency, anemia and dehydration,” he added.
Wheat grass is rich in fiber, vitamins and minerals. It reduces constipation and anemia. Chlorophyll content in grass is very similar to haem, the proteinless part of human blood. Supplementing chlorophyll rich food or leafy vegetables helps build blood. “Wheat grass is called as 'panacea on earth',” said Sasidharan. Wheat grass is made by germinating wheat for seven days and then cutting and grinding its tender leaves.
Egg white is rich in protein, calcium and magnesium. It has a very low fat content when compared to the yolk. In a nutshell, this breakfast combo provides your body enough proteins, vitamins, minerals, anti oxidants and amino acids.
