Here are a few home remedies that are most suitable for healthier and long life:

Sleep issues

► Apply raw galangal ground in butter/ghee on the scalp.

► Drink two glasses of cold water before going to bed.

► Before going to bed wash and clean legs and apply butter on the inner toes.

► Have ground nutmeg added to honey.

► Drink water boiled with Bishop’s weed.

Hangnail

► Apply coconut oil heated with basil leaf.

► Make a hole in lemon and keep finger inserted in it.

For black hair

► Heat one ounce of coconut oil added with 50 hibiscus flowers and apply on the head.

To prevent premature graying

► Apply equal quantities of naruneendi root, water lily leaf or flower and lotus root ground in buttermilk on the head. People with phlegmatic congestion should not do this.

► Apply equal quantities of neelibhringadi and kayyunnyadi oils.

Tackle the dandruff menace

► Go to bed with basil leaves sprinkled on a white towel spread on the pillow.

► Apply ground curry leaves on the head.

Tips to remember while administering medicines into the eyes

► Do not pour medicine in to eye after sunset.

► Pour the medicine in both eyes as the infection in one eye is likely to spread to the other eye.

► Do not stare at any source of light or wash the eye immediately after pouring the medicine.

► Do not pour medicine in the eye while having vomiting, fever and headache.

► Wash your eyes by splashing cold water for 10 to 15 minutes as soon as you wake up in the morning.

► Rotate the eyeballs to the left, right, top and bottom now and then. Rotating eyeballs clockwise and counter-clockwise will be good.

Useful tips to keep you healthy everyday

Water: Have pure water in empty stomach soon after waking up in the morning. It will lend vigor and energy for the entire day.

Gooseberry: Chew and eat gooseberry daily for intelligence and memory and for preventing premature graying.

Honey: Having it daily will lend long life and beauty.

Garlic: Reduces asthma, heart diseases, worm, gas trouble, indigestion, cough, tuberculosis and diabetes. Lakhunadikhritham which contains garlic is used as a medicine for ulcer and piles.

Cumin: Ideal medicine for postpartum care, skin hygiene, fever and cough. Take cumin in buttermilk to stop hiccups.

Mustard seed: Medicine for gout, diabetes, piles and earache.
