The term ‘wrong food combinations,’ have been used quite often at the dining table. Commands like ‘you should not eat this food along with that one’ or ‘don’t do that while you are eating’ etc. Let us learn more about a few contradictory food items that should not be eaten together:
1. Milk and water melon
Milk is a laxative (helps to ease bowels), while water melon is a diuretic (helps to easy urination). Water melon digests quickly, whereas milk needs more time for digestion. A combination of both these food items can result in acidity and heartburn.
2. Milk and fish
Milk and fish contradict each other in piquancy. Milk is hot, while fish is cold. According to Ayurveda, a combination of these conflicting foods can make one’s blood impure, resulting in a block in the veins.
3. Banana and milk
According to Ayurveda, banana combined with milk, curd or butter milk is dangerous. It can cause indigestion and generate toxic elements in the body. Hence, frequent intake of these contradictory foods can cause fever, cough and allergy.
4. Honey and ghee
Conflicting piquancy of these foods can cause various health issues.
5. Say no to curd at night
Curd and cheese take a long time for digestion. So, consuming these food items at night can cause constipation. It is fine to include them in the lunch menu. Whereas, butter milk can be consumed at any time.
6. Don’t drink cold water after meals
Drinking cold water immediately after a meals will quash the digestive juices. It will also cause allergy and common cold.
7. Don’t eat heated honey
Ayurveda says that honey, if heated, can get glued to the veins. This has to be avoided.
