New York: Sania Mirza and her partner Shuai Peng were knocked out of the US Open on Friday after losing 4-6, 4-6 to second seeds Martina Hingis and Yung-Jan Chan in the women's doubles semifinal.

The Indo-Chinese pair got off to good starts in both sets, but failed to hold on to their advantage. Hingis and her Chinese Taipei partner advanced to the final with a straight-sets win. Sania and Peng had 10 break point opportunities, but could convert just two of them. In contrast, Hingis, who was Sania's former partner, and Chan won seven break point opportunities in total and converted four of them to advance to the title clash.
