Former stars for Manorama World Senior Badminton Championships

Kochi: International stars from yesteryear will line up in the BWF Manorama World Senior Badminton Championships that begin at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Kochi on Monday. Former Russian national champion Stanislav Pukhov and Britain's Rebecca Pantaney, the 1998 Commonwealth Games gold medalist, are top seeds.

Japan's Noriko Sanata tops the seeding in the above-35 women's segment. Other higher-seeded players are Chinese Taipei's Chang Jun Woo and Denmark's Carstein Loche.

In the above-35 men's category, Keralites K.T. Roopesh and Saneve Thomas have been granted top billing in doubles, while Malayali star V. Diju and J.B.S. Vidyadhar are the second seeds.

Twelve courts will stage the games simultaneously. Six hundred and sixty five players, who have qualified from 39 countries, will be seen in action over seven days, from September 11 to 17.
