Bhubaneswar: Uttar Pradesh thrashed Kerala by 245 runs in a Group B match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy one-day championship Wednesday.
Akshdeep Nath's 143 powered UP to a mammoth 387/5 in 50 overs, while Kerala were bowled out for a paltry 142 in 32 overs. This was Kerala's third successive loss in seven-team Group B.
Opener Shivam Chaudhary (63) and Akshdeep put on 142 runs for the second wicket after Kerala captain Sachin Baby opted to field. Akshdeep continued the good work in the company of Eklavya Dwivedi (75) and the duo's 135-run third-wicket partnership took them past the 300-run mark. Akshdeep's 117-ball knock knock featured 19 fours and three sixes.
Iqbal Abdulla, who gave away 59 runs off his 10 overs, was the lone Kerala bowler to have an economy rate of under 6.
Though Vishnu Vinod (32) and Jalaj Saxena (29) put on 55 runs for the first wicket, Kerala soon lost their way and were bundled out for 142 with 18 overs remaining.
