Rohit Sharma has been hogging the limelight as stand-in Indian captain. The stylish Mumbaikar has led the team to series wins over Sri Lanka in the one-dayers and T20Is in the absence of regular skipper Virat Kohli. The opener has been in superb form with the bat too. He smashed an unbeaten 208 in the second ODI against Sri Lanka in Mohali. Rohit equaled South African David Miller's record for the fastest T20I hundred off 35 balls against the hapless Lankans in Indore in the second match on Friday.
Rohit and K L Rahul put on 165 off a mere 76 balls for the first wicket. Rohit, who fell for 118 off 43 balls, was quick to signal to head coach Ravi Shastri to send in M S Dhoni at No.3. The video of Rohit's gesture has gone viral.
Dhoni, made a 21-ball 28, and made sure India kept the momentum after the captain's dismissal in the company of Rahul (89).
Earlier, Rohit dedicating his double hundred to his wife Ritika on their second wedding anniversary had gone viral.
Dhoni had supported Rohit in his early part of the career and was instrumental in making him the opener in the shorter formats of the game.
