Surat: Kerala's maiden Ranji Trophy quarterfinal against Vidarbha in Surat has been delayed by a wet outfield. Cyclone Ockhi, that wreaked havoc along the southern coastline of Kerala, had triggered heavy rain in the Gujarat city over the past two days. It was not known when the match will start.
Kerala made it to the quarterfinals of the Ranji Trophy for the first time with an emphatic victory over Haryana in their final Group B game in Lahli on November 28.
Kerala, who won five out of their six matches to book a place in the last-eight stage, are up against a formidable Vidarbha, who possess a strong batting line-up with opener Sanjay Ramaswamy and Ganesh Satish in their ranks in addition to Fazal and Jaffer. The Kerala side is led by Sachin Baby. Basil Thampi, who got his maiden call to the Indian T20 squad against Sri Lanka, will be raring to go.
The knockout match is a five-day affair and the toss will play a crucial role.
