India beat Australia
Left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav took a hat-trick to help India comfortably beat Australia by 50 runs in the second One-Day International at Eden Gardens on Thursday and take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. Kuldeep Yadav is the third Indian to take a hat-trick in one day internationals after Kapil Dev and Chetan Sharma. Read more
New discovery about Milky Way
Our galaxy, which is home to Earth and its solar system, might not be as "typical" as previously thought. Milky Way-based models to understand other galaxies of the universe could be misleading, new research suggests. The Milky Way is host to several dozen smaller galaxy satellites. Many satellites of those "sibling" galaxies are actively pumping out new stars, but the Milky Way's satellites are mostly inert.
Not all dinosaurs were vegetarian
Some dinosaurs may not have been the strict vegetarians that palaeontologists thought they were. New analysis of fossilised dinosaur dung suggests some herbivorous dinosaurs may have also eaten crustaceans, according to a new study published Thursday in the Nature journal Scientific Reports.
L'Oreal billionaire heiress dies
French businesswoman and billionaire Liliane Bettencourt, whose family founded L'Oreal has died. She was 94. Bettencourt, listed by Forbes as the world's richest woman, was the heiress to the beauty and cosmetics company her father founded just over a century ago as a maker of hair dye. Read more
