Thiruvananthapuram: The Mattannur murder shows that the CPM continues to practice political fascism, said opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala on Tuesday.
Criminal gangs are enjoying a free run with official protection. By eliminating Shuhaib, the CPM has murdered peace in the region, wrote Chennithala in a Facebook post. People's consciousness should arise against the Red terror, he wrote.
In protest against the murder of Youth Congress worker Shuhaib, the party wing will organize protests across the stage, said Dean Kuriakose, Youth Congress state president.
At the same time, Kannur DCC president Satheesan Pacheni will hold a hunger strike in Kannur on Wednesday in protest against the murder. Pacheni's hunger strike aims to seek an end to CPM's politics of murder, and the arrest of Shuhaib's murderers. It will be inaugurated by Chennithala. The 24-hour fast is from 10 am on Wednesday to 10am on Thursday, said Pacheni.
Shuhaib was murdered after the assailants threw a bomb to create panic at Therur in Edayannur, which is under the jurisdiction of Mattannoor police. Naushad (27) and Riyaz (27), who were injured in the bomb attack, are under treatment at Koyili hospital in Kannur.
Chennithala's post (translated): Shuhaib was hacked into pieces after throwing a bomb and creating panic.
When Youth Congress Mattannur block president Shuhaib was murdered, they also killed the peace of the land. The murder of Shuhaib, who had excelled as the best organizer in Kizhallur at a very young age, also speaks volumes about CPM's political fascism.
The criminal gang is let loose with official protection. CPM murderers eliminated the lone hopes of a family that includes his father, mother and three sisters.
A hartal will be held till 6pm in Kannur district in protest against the murder.
People's consciousness should arise against Red terror that claims lives. The CPM goons who have made Kannur the killing fields of political opponents have to be isolated. We have to fight together against CPM's politics of murder.
My tributes to Shuhaib.
