Kothamangalam: The tragic death of ONGC deputy general manager Jose Antony in the Pawan Hans helicopter crash, days after celebrating his 25th wedding anniversary, has left his relatives and friends shattered.

The family had organized a party at their ancestral home in Kothamangalam on January 4, inviting close friends and family members to celebrate the occasion.

Jose, with his wife Rani and children Resmitha and Rinitha, arrived on December 28 and went to Bengaluru after two days to attend the wedding of his sister Anny’s daughter, said a relative.

Third of the seven children of the late Perumbillichira P V Antony-Pennamma couple of Minippadi, Chelad, near Kothamangalam, he graduated in mechanical engineering from Mar Athanasius College of Engineering in 1988 and joined ONGC soon after. He has worked in Assam and Andhra Pradesh.

The family was planning to move to their new house constructed at Aiswarya Nagar, near Kothamangalam.

When the news of the chopper crash broke Saturday morning, the family was anxiously waiting for some good news. Even as they prayed for a miracle, their hopes dashed after ONGC authorities confirmed his death by afternoon.
