secretariat Paul Antony, who took over as the new chief secretary Monday said the punching system will be strictly implemented.

Thiruvananthapuram: The automated salary-linked punching system to monitor attendance of the secretariat staff here has been kicked off.

From now on the employees have to swipe in and out marking their attendance in the bio-metric system, failing which their remuneration will be affected.

In a month, three hours’ exemption is being provided to employees. Employees will also have to mark their attendance in the register.

Identity cards too have been made mandatory.

However, a decision is yet to be taken on the attendance system for personal staff members of ministers.

Paul Antony, who took over as the new chief secretary Monday said the punching system will be strictly implemented.

The new attendance management system has been linked with the SPARK software (service and payroll administrative repository for Kerala) that handles the staff salary.

After exhausting the 3-hour exemption, if an employee is late to work for three days, he or she will lose a casual leave.
