Pala: The entire Ezhacherry village is coming together to help a postman who is suffering from renal failure.
The villagers have joined hands to save the life of Ezhacherry Kallurumbil Radhakrishnan (54). Ezhacherry Stone Age Nature & Cultural Club formed 10 squads to visit all houses in the village and collect funds for Radhakrishnan on Saturday.
Radhakrishnan, who has been working as a postman in Ezhacherry for two decades, is well known to all villagers. It was one-and-a-half years ago his kidneys got infected and he had to start treatment.
Radhakrishnan is the lone breadwinner of a poor family that includes his wife and daughter. He has already spent around Rs 5 lakh for treatment so far. He had to sell whatever valuable he had and seek help from others to continue his treatment.
He undergoes three dialysis treatment a week at a private hospital in Kochi. It is in this situation that the club has come forward to help Radhakrishnan and his family, said club's office-bearers K Aloysius, Satish Thazhathuruthil, CG Vijayakumar, Joy Thomas and Alaski Thengumpallikkunel.
