Thodupuzha: The 'high-spirited' Kerala youth who tried to mount on an elephant learned the hard way that it's not easy being a Baahubali. A day after his adventure, the young man on Tuesday posted his latest pledge on his FB page from the hospital bed -- "I will never go near an elephant again".
The video of the incident which happened at Thodupuzha in Kerala's Idukki district was widely circulated on social media platforms. The youth was later admitted to the hospital for treatment.
The young man, who had downed a few pegs, was passing by the area with his friends on a scooter when he saw the elephant chained to a tree on the roadside. With the location and the 'spirit' conspiring against him, the youth decided to re-enact the popular elephant taming scene from Baahubali. But little did he realize that the pachyderm was in no mood to stand his drunken behavior. It flung the youth in the air like a ball.
His friends had recorded all this in his phone. The youth was found lying unconscious a few metres away and the visuals went live through his Facebook page. Though the video was taken down from his page, it is widely being circulated on other social media platforms.
He was last seen lying on a hospital bed with minor injuries. In his latest post, he claimed that he is alright and his injuries are not serious. His latest resolution: "Stay kilometres away from elephants".
A quarter of all hospital admissions and 69 percent of all crimes in Kerala are due in part to intoxication, according to the Alcohol and Drug Information Centre.
